Signs of Growth with Spring Acquisition

We are delighted to announce that after the difficult year we have all had, we have welcomed a new business to the BioteCH4 group. It is testament to our team of employees across all our sites that we have been able to continue servicing the needs of all of our customers across various industry sectors during the pandemic, while continuing to grow as a business.

BioteCH4 Limited has acquired the share capital of Sheffield-based food waste processor Waste Recycling & Destruction Limited (“WRD”). The purchase took place on Friday 28th May 2021 and the new business will be known as BioteCH4 – WRD. WRD is a significant processor and trader of food waste with a unique position in the market and excellent facilities in the centre of England. WRD joins the group as our eighth site across the group’s locations, bolstering our already highly versatile anaerobic digestion (“AD”) sites and waste transfer stations, and giving us increased capacity to handle large volumes of food waste from a variety of sectors. The BioteCH4 Group has a depth of expertise in our businesses across the waste management, recycling, and environmental sectors. We’re thrilled that this acquisition means we’ve added to the already impressive knowledge and understanding our team has of the industry, and is on hand to deal with all of our customer’s food waste requirements.

Commenting on the new partnership, BioteCH4 MD Neil Hunter said:

“I’m delighted that after months of discussions and hard work, that we’ve been able to welcome Damien and his team to the BioteCH4 group. “Not only will this new venture further add to the services we offer, but we’re also getting a great team of experienced people too.” As one of the country’s leading AD operators, we are now in a position to be able to expand the capacity of our sites, the collections we make and in turn the green energy we produce as a direct result of the food waste we recycle and process at each of our sites.

Damien Gaunt MD of WRD commented:

“The timing of this merger is critical in what is set to be a pivotal year for businesses in the food waste industry. With new Government legislation just around the corner, now is the time many businesses across the food processing, manufacturing and distribution industry should be looking at their food waste plans. The relationship we have with the BioteCH4 team means we’re able to further support those businesses that already trust us with their waste and offer them additional levels or service and expertise should they need it. Even as we prepare to navigate our business through undoubtedly further challenges ahead as we work through the key dates in the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown, we thought we would reassure all our customers, suppliers, partners, and staff that it’s business as usual.”
