Christmas Fundraising

We're always thinking about ways we can give back to the community, raise awareness for important issues and events, and fundraise for charity.

Charities

In recent months, staff have taken part in multiple fundraisers for Macmillan Cancer Support individually, in teams and across our sites. Lead engineer, Colin, at our Local Generation site, kick-started the Macmillan fundraising by jumping out of a plane in aid of the charity! He raised an incredible £630 by gaining sponsors for his skydive. Shortly following this, our sites hosted Macmillan Coffee Mornings, providing delicious bakes for our staff and visitors who donated. In doing so, we raised £461! And, most recently, the Transport and Process teams at our Changing Waste site Braved the Shave in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. By ditching their locks and facial hair, they raised £546, which is just fantastic! Altogether, this is £1637 raised for a charity that is sadly close to many of our hearts in one way or another. We hope that this helps to provide life-changing Macmillan Cancer Support for someone in need.

Movember

As November has just ended, Lee and Duncan, Chief Commercial Officer and Commercial Manager have just shaved off a couple of pretty impressive ‘Mo’s’ which were grown in aid of the Men’s Health Charity, Movember. In doing so, they raised £301, these donations can help save a father, a brother, a son, a friend, a partner, a man’s life.

Christmas

The Trussell Trust

Now, as the festive season has begun, the need for community support and fundraising is more pressing than ever, we have chosen to support the Trussel Trust Food Banks during this time and, have been fundraising throughout December to support those in need, starting with Christmas Jumper Day. Employees donated to the Trussel Trust with funds or non-perishable foods and wore their Christmas jumpers throughout the workday, and to boost the funds we raised, we also held a bake sale, and ‘sold’ Christmas tree tags in which employees could purchase rather than buying individual Christmas cards and write special messages on them to colleagues.

Donations

We have donation boxes spread across our sites in which staff can donate Christmas gifts, toiletries, and kitchen necessities, which will be donated to relevant charities and organisations local to our sites across the UK.

After the new year, we will be continuing the donations throughout January to give staff the opportunity to donate unwanted Christmas gifts and left over non-perishable goods.

Lincoln Santa Fun Run

Some of the team from Head Office took part in Lincoln’s ‘Santa Fun Run’ in aid of chosen charity, Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance. The event turned out to be a spectacular ‘Sea of Red Santas’ running or walking 4 kilometres around the centre of the historic city of Lincoln to raise funds for a variety of local charities.
