BioteCH4 CEO Neil Hunter steps down and we welcome industry leader Christer Stoyell as new CEO

After 14 years of leading the organisation Neil Hunter has decided to step-down as CEO of BioteCH4. He will now take on the role of CEO of the new separate company of Bisviridi and will also stay on as an adviser to BioteCH4. We thank Neil for his leadership and commitment to the business over this time, during which we have established ourselves as a leader in the market.

Christer Stoyell will join BioteCH4 as our new Chief Executive Officer from 1 October 2024, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the renewables sector having previously held senior roles at Severn Trent Green Power (“STGP”), Capita Energy Services and RWE. Over the last four years Christer has overseen STGP’s growth organically and inorganically in the food waste AD market and will now lead the continued operation and growth of BioteCH4 across its different market segments.

Christer will be supported in his role by a new board consisting of Marc Bolland (Chair), Marina Nitsa Viergutz (Director), Alexander Maddan (Director) and Chris Chambers (Director). At the same time Michael Kuessner steps down from the board and we thank him for his many years of service.

Neil Hunter, outgoing Chief Executive, said: “It has been a privilege to grow and lead the BioteCH4 business over the last 14 years, and I am proud of the company that we are today. I wish Christer and all my colleagues the very best in this new chapter and look forwards to seeing BioteCH4 continue to be a leader in the market”.

Christer Stoyell, incoming Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted to join BioteCH4 at such an exciting time for the business and look forward to working together with the board to deliver the next stage of growth and development for the company. There are huge upcoming opportunities in the food waste recycling industry, with separated food waste recycling becoming mandatory in April 2026, and I am motivated to work alongside the board to ensure that BioteCH4 are at the forefront of market expansion in our sector.”
