Quarter of a Century – Quite the Achievement!

Last week we marked a very special work anniversary; our Chief Technical Officer, Russ Baker, celebrated 25 years of service with us.

Russ started working at Fenmarc in 1997 and then in 2002 with our CEO, Neil Hunter as a fresh-faced Engineering Manager, taking on the challenges set for him by a new growing company.

Following that Russ joined the team as an engineer for Local Generation and gained much valuable experience and became a trusted member of the team, on hand for advice and last-minute requests and fixes.

As time progressed, so did Russ. He moved to the position of Plant Manager at Local Generation where he was responsible for the daily operation of the plant, the smooth running of the biological processes and the overseeing of the daily management and processes that it takes to run an AD plant.

Our Chief Operating Officer Victoria Peat has worked with Russ for four years.

Victoria commented “Russ is very reliable and trustworthy, and I am proud to work alongside him; I can always rely on Russ to engineer a solution and move things forward!”

Then, in 2015 Russ moved to Lincolnshire to our Hemswell Biogas plant where he continued with the role of plant manager. Overseeing the development of what at the time was a brand-new site. Russ was integral with the implementation of the processes, hiring of new members of staff and ensuring the growth of our then, newest plant within group.

As time has passed Russ has moved into a more integrated group role and transitioned from our Group Engineering Manager to Chief Technical Officer for the group. This role sees him in a strategic position to ensure the continued successful growth and development of our plants across the UK.

Russ has been working with our Chief Commercial Officer, Lee Dobinson now for 10 years and Lee commented, “He’s straight talking and astonishingly knowledgeable, I have come to rely on his technical expertise as well as his dry sense of humour!”

And the final word must go to our Chief Executive Neil Hunter, who has worked with Russ since the very start of Russ’s career with the group.

“It’s a pleasure to know and have worked with Russ for such a long time. I’ve seen him grow in experience and confidence from a young lad into a knowledgeable and incredibly highly valued and respected member of our business. What he’s lost in hair over the years, he’s more than certainly made up for in experience!”

Congratulations Russ on an amazing career so far, we’re very privileged to have you as part of the team and we’re excited to see where our business goes over the next 25 years!
